Just before my son was born, my mother came out to
stay with me while I was on bedrest. She brought,
among other things, some of the clothing my sister and
I had worn when we were babies.
I have fond memories of opening up the trunk in the basement when we were little girls and playing house with all the treasures we found inside. My mother had taken these baby clothes from that very trunk and it brought back such a pleasant rush of childhood memory. Although the little ones wear their clothes for so short a time, the memories they evoke can last a lifetime. I have already put aside several outfits that I loved seeing my son wear when he was very young. I will give them to him when he starts his own family. And, in the meantime, I am going to put them somewhere so he can find them and enjoy a great afternoon of playing house. |
